Sujit Choudhry”s Proud Legacy in the Legal World

Sujit Choudhry is a professor of law at the UC Berkeley School of Law. He is worldly recognized as a comparative constitutional law expert. Choudhry is also the founding director for the Center for Constitutional Transitions. Additionally, he has served as the constitution building process’s advisor, including in Jordan, Egypt, Nepal, Libya, Tunisia, and Sri Lanka.

His Early Beginnings

Born in 1970 in New Delhi, he was a high school student at the University of Toronto School. He also attended the McGill University to study biology. Afterwards, Sujit Choudhry earned his bachelors degree in law from the University of Oxford in which he was awarded a Rhodes Scholar in 1994. He earned his LL.B. degree from the University of Toronto in 1996 and a LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1998.   Based on fundacity.com.

  • Governing Toronto Advisory Panel Member- major reforms were proposed by the municipal governance in Toronto structure.

Legal Aid Ontario, Board of Directors

  • Legal Aid Ontario, Board of Directors- he was also recognized by the Ontario government to the Board of Directors of Legal Aid Ontario as one of the biggest publicly funded legal assistance programs globally.

  • Federal Committees’ Consultant- the National Advisory Committee on SARS and Public Health and the Royal Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada

  • Professor of Law for the New York University School- he was also the Global Fellows Program’s faculty director around this time.

This made him to be the first Indian-American Dean at that school.
