Sanjay Shah is a widely known businessman, philanthropist and entrepreneur living in the Dubai area with his family. Eric Dye, host and interviewer, is recording a podcast session with the successful business man who is responsible for Solo Capital, an investment firm and Autism Rocks, a charity based on raising funds for autism research. He talks about important business precautions to take as well as when to seek help. Shah created Solo Capital after retiring from the accounting industry, which he had worked in for many years. He originally attended King’s College to study medicine because he wanted to become a doctor. After much anticipation and experience, he realized that it wasn’t for him. So he began studying accounting, when enveloped into a career of success and financial freedom. He originally hired a few trading partner friends and some college graduate students to help him get the business off the ground. He told himself that he would take a year of hard work and dedication to help the business fully thrive. After several years, the company had reached the million dollar mark, which allowed Shah to retire from the industry and pursue his interest in autism.
Autism Rocks had been on the back burner for some time, and now that he is able to fully retire from Solo Capital, he can focus his efforts of Autism Rocks, which was launched in 2014. After much careful consideration and an afternoon cup of tea with Snoop Dogg, he decided to launch the charity. He had been in the music business before and decided to jump back into it, creating concerts with some of the world’s most famous musicians like Lenny Kravitz, Michael Buble and Prince. His son has had autism since he was two years old, and he as well as his wife wants to better understand the condition and help their son as much as they can, as well as others who desperately need help. The neurological condition is becoming more widely educated upon, and with Autism Rocks he hopes to help raise more money for research and different programs to help.
